UB40 - Red Red Wine Tour
with special guests The English Beat and Maxi Priest
Event Details
UB40 was formed in Birmingham in 1978 by a group of young friends who transcended their working-class origins to become the world’s most successful reggae band, selling over 100 million records and spending over a combined 11 years in the UK album charts. The band’s name pays homage to the UK government's unemployment benefit form 40, reflecting their socially conscious roots and commitment to addressing societal issues through their music.
By bringing a unique fusion of reggae, pop, and socially conscious lyrics they set themselves apart in the vibrant music scene of the 1980s. The band quickly gained international acclaim with their debut album, "Signing Off," in 1980. The album's success propelled them into the limelight, establishing UB40 as pioneers of the reggae-pop genre. Throughout their illustrious career, UB40 has released a string of hit albums, including "Labour of Love," "Geoffrey Morgan," and "Promises and Lies." Their chart-topping singles, such as "Red Red Wine," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and "I Got You Babe," have become timeless classics that resonate with audiences across generations.
UB40’s “Red Red Wine Tour” will be featuring five of UB40’s six founding members, Robin Campbell, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer and Norman Hassan, and long-time members Duncan Campbell, Martin Meredith, Lawrence Parry and Tony Mullings. With a discography that spans over 20 albums and a reputation for electrifying live performances, UB40 remains a force to be reckoned with in the world of reggae and popular music.

In partnership with St. Johns County Education Foundation Inc., operating as Investing in Kids (INK!), The St. Augustine Amphitheatre has become an official drop-off site for the annual Tools 4 Schools countywide school supply drive for the month of August. Throughout the month, we encourage concertgoers to bring a variety of essential school supplies to the Amphitheatre’s designated Tools 4 Schools bin, located outside the Box Office on show days.
In addition to being an official drop off site during August concert events, The St. Augustine Amphitheatre will host a Stuff the Bus collection drive during The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The community is invited to “stuff” new school supply donations onto a school bus that will be parked at the Amphitheatre. Volunteers will also be onsite to help collect and unload donated supplies. Donations will support over 52,000 public school students and teachers at schools across St. Johns County.
